The favorite resort of tourists
Until now, Mamaia was among the tourist resorts of Romanians. Most opted for this destination, even though it was one of the most expensive in all respects. It seems, however, that the preferences are completely different now.
Many tourists reoriented themselves this year and gave up the luxury of Mamaia Nord. A resort, considered by many to be for those of the second age, is now a favorite of young people. Lower prices, modernization and widening of the beach with the finest nothing now attract even the most partiers.
Seaside tourism saw a significant rise between October 2023 and March 2024, recording an impressive 27% increase in bookings for seaside holidays planned for the summer of 2024.
It is remarkable that the resort of Eforie Nord managed to establish itself as the main destination for the summer vacation, thus dethroning Mamaia, which dominated all the charts for years. The beach stands out due to its significant dimensions, namely 23 hectares after the new changes, but also the sand, which is said to be the finest.
According to the data of the reservations made so far, the most sought-after resorts on the Romanian coast are Eforie Nord, which occupies the first position, and Mamaia, which ranks second. On the third place in the top is the Neptun-Olimp resort.
Advantageous prices at Eforie Nord
Just a month before the official opening of the summer season, hoteliers are mobilizing to attract tourists and induce them to make reservations in time. To encourage this, significant discounts are offered, reaching up to 40% for those planning their holiday in July or August.
Up to now, almost a quarter of the holiday packages have been purchased by tourists from both Romania and abroad. It is proof that the coast of our country enjoys great popularity among foreign tourists as well.
Accommodation rates vary depending on the period and facilities offered. A five-night stay in July at a four-star all-inclusive hotel can start from 2,500 lei per person, while in August rates increase by 1,000 lei. For those who opt for a three-star hotel in Eforie Sud, the most affordable vacation costs 400 lei per person for five days.
The average length of stay increased this year from four nights to five or six nights, a sign that tourists want to enjoy more time on the Romanian coast and explore as many of the attractions offered by this area as possible.
A famous hotel is reopening in Eforie Nord
Ana Hotels Group announced the reopening of Hotel Europa in Eforie Nord on April 16. The total investment is more than 14 million euros and the owners hope that they will be able to attract tourists to their luxury location.
The modernization of the hotel took place over a period of six months and included work on the building’s carpentry and restoration of balconies, replacement of equipment, refurbishing of rooms and partial improvement of the medical spa center. The location is exclusive, which in the past occupied an important place among the most chosen accommodation spaces.
“Work began in October 2023 and proceeded at an exceptional pace, emphasizing efficiency and quality. It is the largest hotel modernization project in its more than 20 years, under the “Ana Hotels” brand.
Over 25,000 square meters were renovated in just six months, marking a record in terms of the speed and performance of this process”, said George Copos, President-General Manager of Ana Hotels.
