The strike is announced for an indefinite period. Until the issues raised by the Protestants are resolved. People are at work, but they will not work.

In the municipality of Sibiu, more than 50 employees of the Post Office are currently on general strike. The main grievances of the people are the refusal of the Bucharest management to sign the collective labor agreement and the low wages.

During the strike, the participants will be at work, within the working hours, but the activity will be suspended. Thus, the counters are closed, the postal cars remained in the garages, and the postal workers did not go to the field anymore.

“We will be on an indefinite general strike until the claims are settled. Right now we’re at work, but we’re not doing anything. Of all the post office employees in the municipality, only one works. We still haven’t received any data from the county,” Vasile Herciu, vice-president of the Romanian Postal Workers’ Union, Sibiu branch (SLRP), told Turnul Sfatului.

According to him, in the county and in the municipality there is no information according to which the employees who are on strike have been replaced by other people.

“We have not heard of such cases, but there are in other counties. Mechanics or plumbers were brought in to take the postmen’s place,” says Vasile Herciu.

We remind you that, on March 20, Romanian Post employees made their grievances public through a warning strike, after all negotiations with the management failed. The strikes took place simultaneously in several counties of the country, including Sibiu. Also, the possibility of a general strike was announced as early as Thursday, March 28.
