The drug mafia in the gyms of Cluj received a strong blow, after the prosecutors detained five people and confiscated money and prohibited substances.

On March 28, the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Central Structure ordered the detention of 5 defendants investigated for committing the crimes of forming an organized criminal group with the aim of trafficking doping products with a high degree of risk, illicit trafficking of high-risk doping substances (in continuous form) as well as high-risk drug trafficking.

From the investigations carried out in the case it emerged that, at the beginning of 2023, the five formed, within the radius of Cluj-Napoca, an organized criminal group with the aim of procuring, producing, storing and selling high-risk doping substances in exchange large sums of money.

The five also offered clients “consultation” on how to administer the substances (part of them hidden in a fitness room), completely ignoring the risks to the health of consumers.

In total, on March 27, 13 searches were carried out in Cluj County, at the homes and offices of commercial companies used by the members of the criminal group. The investigators identified over 16 kilograms of white powdery substance, 5 graduated glass containers and plastic funnels intended for the production of doping substances, 15 large containers containing liquid substances that there was a reasonable suspicion that they were used for the production of doping or psychoactive substances , 11,146 tablets containing high-risk doping substances, 721 ampoules and vials containing high-risk doping substances, one FENTANIL ampoule, 2 KETAMINA ampoules, 2 plastic sachets containing a powdery substance inside, 4 air guns, 50 cartridges of 10 mm caliber, 13 mobile phones, a car, with a market value of more than 40,000 euros, 10 luxury watches, the sums of 39,678 lei, 32,580 euros and 500 USD, as well as other evidence.

A location was also discovered that was used as a clandestine laboratory for the production of doping substances.

Yesterday, the judge of rights and liberties of the Bucharest Court ordered the preventive arrest of one defendant and the measure of judicial control against the other four. Prosecutors appealed.
