The prefect of Prahova county, Virgiliu Nanu, president of PSD Prahova, announced that he has taken the necessary steps to terminate his mandate as prefect, in order to run for the presidency of the Prahova County Council, a position for which PNL Prahova announced that he supports Iulian Dumitrescu, accused of corruption and under judicial control. The PSD leader Prahova’s announcement was made in a press conference where he had, on his desk, a model of a Bentley and a Lamborghini, the brands of cars driven by Iulian Dumitrescu and his wife, reports News.ro.

“I have already taken the necessary steps to apply the law, so that I can run without any problem. So the steps are being taken, probably next week or in a maximum of two weeks, my mandate as prefect of Prahova county will end”, announced, on Thursday, in a press conference, the president of PSD Prahova, Virgiliu Nanu.

He specified, in a statement for News.ro, that he officially submitted the request to terminate his mandate as prefect.

“My candidacy and that of the mayor Andrei Volosevici was validated in the National Political Council last week”, Virgiliu Nanu also declared.

The conference in which the prefect announced that he had taken the steps to resign from his position in favor of running for the head of the County Council took place at the PSD headquarters in Ploiesti, and on the lectern from which the prefect spoke were two models of Bentley and Lamborghini cars , the brands of cars driven by Iulian Dumitrescu and his wife.

Asked what was the message he wanted to convey by using this prop, Nanu answered briefly: “Lamborghini Baron”.

Virgiliu Nanu described himself as “a normal man”, confessing that he uses domestic cars, a Duster and a Logan.

He specified that, since Iulian Dumitrescu was placed under judicial control, he had no discussion with him.

In the press conference, Virgiliu Nanu also spoke about the support that the PNL mayors announced for Iulian Dumitrescu, indicted for bribery and forgery.

“Those mayors who are today with the suspended president of the County Council, I think they understood that together, if they go, they will have to campaign for him. However, I’m curious how they will campaign, considering all the elements that appeared in the press opposite the bribe that is being talked about. It is their choice that they will have to make,” said Nanu.

PSD Prahova President criticized the self-suspended leader of PNL Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu, pointing out that he implemented a project to introduce a gas supply network in the Slănicului Valley in Prahova County, without there being a connection between the system on The Slănic Valley and the national supply system operated by Transgaz.

“I don’t understand how the distribution network started, without ensuring the transport. The people of Valea Slănicului were lied to,” said Virgiliu Nanu.

In the press conference held on Thursday, the PSD president Prahova was accompanied by the mayor of Ploieşti, Andrei Volosevici, elected in 2020 under the PNL logo. He repeated the accusations that the people of Ploiești, who faced a crisis regarding the supply of hot water, suffered because of the decisions made by Iulian Dumitrescu.

“I want my point of view to be very clear. I am here and we are a team. No president of the County Council, no vice-president of the County Council was interested in what happened in 2022-2023, when they flatly lied about the fact that we did not have hot water for two and a half months, due to the foul play of some who come from Călăraşi and live in Stejarii. I am convinced that there was hot water there”, stated Andrei Volosevici, referring to the fact that Iulian Dumitrescu ran for and was elected in Prahova, but lived in the luxury complex Stejarii in the Capital.
