A team from IPJ Ilfov – Animal Protection Office released 17 illegally held birds

In a coordinated action between IPJ Ilfov – Animal Protection Bureau and the Biodiversity Directorate of the General Commissariat of the National Environmental Guard, an intervention took place at the home of a citizen from Domnești commune, Ilfov county, on April 24, 2024.

With the support of the police and a biologist from the Romanian Ornithological Society, a number of 17 specimens of birds were identified, belonging to the budgerigar, florentine bottlenose, finch and scatius species, which were kept illegally by the person in question. All these species are protected and are of national interest, requiring strict protection.

In accordance with the legislation in force, the bird specimens were released into their natural environment, and a criminal complaint was filed against the person who illegally possessed them.

This action supports the protection of biodiversity and compliance with laws regarding the conservation of vulnerable species.
