More than a week after the tragedy, the mother of the two- and four-year-old girls poisoned by their father in Spain, decided to talk about how much she had to endure next to the man. Alina told how difficult it is for her without the two angels in an interview with Toñi Moreno, on the program Hoy en Día, on Canal Sur.

Ten days have passed since Alina, aged 23, faced the biggest tragedy of her life. Cristian, the man with whom she had a relationship and had two daughters, aged two and four, killed them by poisoning them with liquid fertilizer and then committed suicide on a farm in Alboloduy, Spain.

“I’m sure he did it to hurt me”

More than a week after the tragic event, yesterday the young woman had the opportunity to explain her story and clarify the rumors that had spread about her life in an interview with Toñi Moreno on the Hoy en Día program on Canal Sur, which also appeared in the daily newspaper La Voz de Almeria.

“I don’t know what was in his head, but I’m sure he did it to hurt me,” said the Romanian. “He knew that if he killed himself, I would live in peace with my girls.” she added.

The love story of Alina and Cristian began when the young woman was 18 years old. Shortly after she became pregnant with her first daughter, Larisa, that’s when the terror began.

“That’s when the jealousy started. He isolated me. He broke my phone so I couldn’t talk to my mother,” says Alina.

Alina was beaten and threatened with death daily

From then the horrors began. The woman says that he beat her and threatened her with death every day. Even once he wanted to crash his car into a well, while their little girl was inside.

In 2022, Alina filed a complaint against the man and moved into a foster home from which she eventually left voluntarily.

“I left because I felt pressured to do so. I didn’t feel protected. Every day they asked me if I found something to rent and when I was going to leave,” said the young woman.

In the situation of finding herself in a foreign country, not knowing the language well (which she could not learn due to isolation), without support, without help and with two little girls, she decided to return to her abuser.

“I made this mistake because I was pushed by circumstances,” she explained. Since then, the young woman tried to repair the relationship with the man.

The Romanian says that she trusted the girls’ father and that she didn’t think he could do them any harm

“Even though he had a restraining order, I felt safer talking to him. He hurt me, but I didn’t think about me or him, I thought about my daughters’ happiness. I loved him very much and they loved,” said the young woman.

Moreover, during the interview, she admitted that she gave the father the opportunity to spend more time with his daughters and that, in a way, he was the person she trusted the most because he never thought that he might hurt them.

However, the only reason why Alina tried to maintain a good relationship with the girls’ father was so that she could take them to Romania.

“I wanted to go to my country, but in court they told me that I can’t even leave Andalusia until the end of the trial (which was scheduled for April 10),” she explained.

Now the 23-year-old said she doesn’t feel able to leave her daughters’ graves.

“There are my girls,” she said, just as she still did not feel strong enough to return to the house where she lived with the little ones, because everything reminded her of them.

She currently lives at a friend’s house and every night, returns to the cemetery to light two candles in memory of her angels.

Except for the day of the tragic event and the painful funeral of the girls, Alina decided not to go to a psychologist and stopped taking medication.

“I want to move forward with my own strength,” she said in the interview with Toñi Moreno.

However, he admits that he has not come to terms with his loss.

“I’m looking for the girls and I can’t accept that I can’t find them. I feel like something is broken and I can’t fix it,” she said.
