Marius Oprescu: The incumbent mayors, who came to us, will be our candidates

The Olt PSD president, Marius Oprescu, declared that all the mayors who switched to the social democrats will be supported to obtain new mandates. He added that the liberals choose to switch to the PSD because the organization led by Gigel Sorinel Ştirbu went into dissolution.

Marius Oprescu says that PSD Olt has demonstrated that it respects teamwork and that is why more and more city councilors from PNL or Pro Romania choose to take the step towards the social democrats.

“I think that one of the reasons that made them leave the party they represented for many years is a protest against the current leadership of PNL Olt. As I said, with the takeover by the new management, their organization from Olt went into dissolution, which can be seen day by day. Of course, this is one of the reasons, and secondly, the Olt PSD Organization has its doors open to everyone who wants to join us. And, certainly, from the signals of colleagues who have been part of the team for a very long time, but also of some who came later, I know that here they will find a real team and a balance in everything that happens”, declared Oprescu.

Regarding the local and county councilors who have become social democrats, PSD leader Olt stated that no one has a guaranteed seat for the June 9 elections.

“There was no negotiation when they wanted to join us. They wanted to join this team, some confirm, others do not. It is not only about the newcomers, but also about the old ones. Those who do not confirm will no longer be found on the lists. It’s nothing new, politics is constantly dynamic and you have to know how to adapt”, said Oprescu.

“The incumbent mayors, who came to us, will be our candidates. Less so in Leleasca, where the incumbent mayor supports the vice-mayor, but it is their decision”, he added.
