Trains “fly” in Romania. 5 hours late, from Pitesti to Bucharest. What happened?

“RE train 13211 was formed in Pitesti station from train RE 13245, which left the Basarab Depot with a delay of 17 minutes, and in the station Titu announced the failure of the locomotive and stopped for another 191 minutes until a relief locomotive arrived for the continuation of the journey to Pitesti.

We specify that in certain areas on the Bucharest – Pitesti section, CFR SA is carrying out Quick Wins repair works and renewal of the track superstructure, but, as we informed the public, through press releases, the delays caused by these works do not exceed , generally 30 – 40 minutes.

We apologize to the passengers who had tickets for the RE 13211 train for the delay recorded upon arrival at the Northern Railway Station, with the mention that the railway staff of CFR SA is constantly making all the necessary efforts to reduce the minutes of delay caused by the works on the track superstructure. However, we cannot intervene in the event of locomotive failure,” stated the representatives of CFR SA.

They emphasize that passenger transport operators have the obligation to manage their own fleet of locomotives and wagons, and when malfunctions occur they must intervene operatively, by directing the auxiliary locomotives, so that the respective sets are re-registered in the shortest possible time in circulation.

For its part, CFR Călători specifies, in a press release, that the passengers “did not arrive in Bucharest in 300 minutes, but in a reasonable time”.

“Regarding the information in the media according to which the passengers traveling with RE train 13211 on the route Pitesti – Bucharest North had a delay of 300 minutes, CFR Călători makes the following clarifications: the passengers did not arrive in Bucharest in 300 minutes, but in a reasonable time.

They were picked up from the Pitesti station in a short time by other trains of the company, whose destination was Bucharest North.

The problems that affected passengers were caused both by a technical failure of the locomotive of train RE 13211, and by the works carried out by CFR SA to replace the railway tracks. CFR Călători apologizes to the affected passengers”, says the railway operator of public passenger transport.
