after 14 years in England, a young man settled in a commune in Sibiu and established a cow farm. “I had two houses in London, luxury cars, expensive holidays, but I realized I didn’t need all that”

After 14 years of working in England, Andrei Nicola decided to return to Romania and, together with his wife, set up a farm of Angus cows, which they opened in Porumbacu de Jos commune in Sibiu county and which they called Tower Farm Transylvania. The money and luxury they had in London could not buy the peace the two found in the country. Andrei’s entire story was made public on the Annunțul UK facebook page.

Originally from Maramureș, Andrei emigrated to Great Britain in 2009, and at first he worked as a laborer (no unskilled worker) on construction sites in the heart of London. He went to college here, and that helped him progress, after a few years of low-level work. He was promoted first as a Supervisor, and then as a Site Manager, and in the last six years in the UK, he gradually became a Project Manager, Contract Manager and Director for a large company dealing with the renovation and fit-out of restaurants, commercial buildings and offices in central London. His wife also managed to advance in her career, earning quite well, and the two eventually afforded to buy two houses in London.

“I lived in England like a King, I had two houses bought in London, luxury cars at the gate, I dressed in clothes bought only from the stores of famous designers, I went on expensive holidays and ate in fancy restaurants, but I realized that my wife and I didn’t need all that. A lot of money brings a lot of problems and less time spent with children. No matter how much money you make, it’s never enough, and you become a hamster constantly running on a wheel after a false reality. Now we live in the countryside, in Romania, in a house that isn’t worth much, we started driving simple cars, we wear clothes that don’t show the brand anymore and we’re happy”, said Andrei.

“We moved to Romania primarily for the children and for a more beautiful family life”

After 14 years, the Nicola family realized that the luxury life was not what they wanted for the future and decided to move to Porumbacu de Jos. They sold their two houses in London, bought Angus cows and set up Tower Farm Transylvania.

“We moved to Romania primarily for the children and for a more beautiful family life. The children’s grandparents, the children’s great-grandparents and most of the family are here. Unfortunately, nowadays, the elderly Romanians die in nursing homes or die of missing their children who have gone abroad. We don’t want that in our family. We moved to the country to grow our own vegetables, to have some chickens next to the house to eat home-made eggs and when we make a chicken soup it should be meat that is not injected, meat and other products from the locals as BIO as possible or organic. Plus we have our Angus farm and we are struggling with the system to make a business selling BIO meat”, he added.

“We don’t miss London’s money and lifestyle at all”

Expensive restaurants, luxurious cars and luxury vacations could not replace the peace and simplicity that the two found in Porumbacu de Jos.

“We don’t want huge profits. We want to spend as much time as possible with the children, to teach them the true values of life. You have to make a lot of money to realize that you don’t need a lot of money. This is what we achieved in London. We had all the luxury in the world, expensive cars, bought two houses in London, expensive holidays, expensive restaurants, but we realized that you don’t need all that, we started driving simple cars, wearing clothes that don’t fit anymore see the “Brand” on them.

Especially since no matter how much money you make, it never reaches you and you become a Hamster who continuously runs on a wheel after a reality that is false. on social networks all Monday they post only fakes, perfect pictures, perfect sunrises, perfect vacations, perfect marriages, but the reality is not like that. Just like money, it is not real. “They” print money and you sell your time for these printed papers that cost “them” the same ink or the same paper to give value to a 5-pound note or a 50-pound note,” he added .

Andrei ended his story by mentioning that he doesn’t miss the luxurious life in London, but that the only thing he found there that he doesn’t find in Romania is civilization.

“We don’t miss London’s money and lifestyle at all. We lived as if we were plugged in all the time, we were stuck in traffic for hours, congested and we saw with our own eyes that the world around us was as stressed as we were. We don’t miss that kind of thing at all. The only thing we lack in Romania is the civilization of London. Unfortunately, people are much more civilized and friendlier in London than at home, in Romania”, Andrei Nicola concluded.
