A 60-year-old lawyer and journalist made history by being crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires. Alejandra Rodriguez broke barriers, being the first 60-year-old woman in the history of beauty contests to win this title, reports The Independent.

“I am excited to represent the new stage of beauty pageants as we begin a new chapter where women represent not only physical beauty but also a different set of values“, she told the press. “I’m the first of this generation to start with this”.

“I think the jury saw my confidence and passion to represent women of my generation“, the woman continued. “I am determined to fight for the crown of Miss Universe Argentina 2024″.

Since winning the coveted Miss Buenos Aires crown, it seems that Rodriguez is the public favorite for the title of Miss Argentina, which would give her the opportunity to participate in the international Miss Universe pageant. In the past, only people between the ages of 18 and 28 could compete in the Miss Universe pageant.

In September 2023, the Miss Universe Organization announced that, starting from 2024, there will be no age limits for the contestants. Starting in 2024, any woman over the age of 18 will be able to participate.
