The representatives of the Ministry of Energy emphasized that the prices of natural gas invoices decreased in April by 25%, and those of electricity by 15% compared to the maximum capped prices. “We promised lower bills for electricity and natural gas. I have always maintained that the state must intervene where it is necessary, when it is necessary and how it is necessary. There is no need to overturn an entire system, but to calculate, analyze and apply head on. We continue to protect Romanians’ bills”, explained Minister Sebastian Burduja.
The first bills were issued for the month of April for gas and electricity. Compared to the maximum price set by the ceiling, the invoiced prices for natural gas are up to 25% lower. For example, the price charged by the main supplier of natural gas for domestic consumers is 0.23381 lei/kWh (the maximum capped price is 0.310 lei/kWh), the press release of the Ministry of Energy also shows.
For electricity, for household customers with a consumption higher than 300 kWh/month, the reductions applied by the main suppliers reach up to 15% compared to the maximum price of 1.3 lei/kWh.

I strongly and well-grounded support based on the analyzes we made and which we promoted by updating the compensation-ceiling mechanism (OG 27/2022). What was a certainty for me since the moment the new mechanism was promoted in the Government, is confirmed today by invoices. I have always argued: the state must intervene where it is necessary, when it is necessary and how it is necessary. Eurostat recently also confirmed that the prices paid for electricity and natural gas by Romanians are among the lowest in the European Union.
