Top of the best universities in Romania

--

The best universities in Romania are the Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca, the University of Bucharest (UB) and the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (UNSTPB). This is what the report on the metaranking for 2023, published on Wednesday afternoon, May 8, by the Ministry of Education shows.

The ranking includes only 30 universities (28 state, two private) out of the 89 that exist in Romania (52 state, 37 private), according to the cited report.

“The top 10 universities in Romania in 2023 are similar to the one in 2022, being occupied by comprehensive, technical and medical universities”, claims the Ministry of Education.

The Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest (ASE) moved to the 9th place in the top 30 universities in Romania from the year 2023, compared to the 10th place registered for the year 2022, surpassing the Technical University “Gheorghe Asachi” from Iași.

The Military Technical University “Ferdinand I” from Bucharest, last year ranked 31st in the national metaranking, was removed from the ranking because it was not found in the international metarankings used as a benchmark by the Ministry of Education, the institution notes in the report, which can be downloaded below from the article.

“Romanian universities were present in only six of the eight rankings used in the previous edition of the metaranking, which underlines the need for careful monitoring of the indicators used in the ARWU and NTU rankings, as well as the causes that led to the downgrading of Romanian universities from these rankings”, notes the Ministry of Education in the report – document below.

The Ministry’s ranking is carried out separately from those carried out independently, until three years ago, under the auspices of the Ad Astra Association of Romanian Researchers, and from 2022 – by the Qualitas Center of UBB.
