The Vrancea Probation Service will participate on 28.03.2024 in the regional meeting with the theme “CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES IN WORKING WITH CONVICTED PERSONS ON PROBATION”, which will take place in the city of Iasi, Iasi county. The regional meeting is held for the purpose of sharing best practice models and identifying solutions for the activity with persons serving non-custodial sanctions and punishments, on the subject of addiction/mental health. Representatives of the counties of Neamţ, Botoșani, Iași, Suceava, Bacău, Vaslui and Vrancea are invited.
Representatives of the Vrancea Probation Service, Mr. Costel CONSTANDACHE – head of service and mrs. Alina Mihaela BORCAN – probation counselor, will be accompanied in the regional meeting by partners from the community: Mrs. Jeni-Liliana MIHAI – director of CJRAE Vrancea, mrs. Ionelia NEACŞU – insp. specialist CPECA Coordinator Vrancea and Mrs. Mihaela GRIGOROIU, inspector Bordeşti City Hall, Vrancea county. From the academic environment, Mr. Prof. Univ. emeritus Ion DAFINOIU, University “Al. Ioan Cuza” from Iasi and Mr. university professor Dr. Ioan DURNESCU, University of Bucharest. They will have interventions during the regional meeting, along with colleagues from the probation services, Mrs. Alina CIUPERCOVICI, psychotherapist, owner of the Aliat Suceava Clinic and Mr. Marcel NEDELCU, psychotherapist, president of the Iași Couple and Family Institute.
The regional meeting is part of the Ambassadors Program – Activity 4.1 of the CORRECTIONAL PROJECT (“CORRECTIONAL”), financed under the “Justice” program, the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The main topics of debate will focus on the following levels:
– Presentation of the “CORRECTIONAL” project and the “Ambassadors” program;
– Probation in the world. Challenges and trends;
– Psychological interventions in addictions;
– Execution of the obligations imposed on convicted persons – challenges encountered in practice;
– Psychotherapy – the environment of change for convicted mentally disordered persons on probation.
In Romania, the Probation Service is an essential component of the criminal justice system. It focuses on the supervision and reintegration of sanctioned/convicted persons in a state of freedom, which constitute a vulnerable category of the population.
The main purpose of the Probation Service is to prevent recidivism and help people on probation successfully reintegrate into society and the labor market. In this sense, probation counselors offer advice and support to improve the quality of life and to develop the skills necessary for social reintegration. After participating in the specific training and professional orientation programs, the supervised persons acquire the necessary skills to find a stable job, which also reduces the risk of recidivism. The success of these programs is conferred both by the individual efforts of the supervisees and by inter-institutional cooperation. The “Conference of Social Economy Organizations and Enterprises” is a confirmation of inter-institutional collaboration.
