Palestinian refugees in Rafah wrote messages of thanks on tents and placards over the weekend to students who have been demonstrating for several days on the campuses of top US universities and who are demanding a truce in the Gaza War.

The Palestinians wrote on Saturday to the young Americans, with green paint, on the tents where they live in this city located on the border with Egypt, “Thank you, students in solidarity with (the) Gaza Strip. Your message reached us” and they made placards demanding that their right to education be restored, reports News.ro.

“Thank you to the students from (University) Columbia”, they also wrote. Several children also held signs calling for an end to the bloodshed and war so they could return to school.

Columbia University is the one that started this movement, ten days ago, which then expanded to Harvard, Yale, NYU, Cambridge, Princeton and Berkeley universities, and then to other universities throughout the country.

“We support these students to end the repression”, declared a refugee.

Nearly 200 pro-Palestinian demonstrators were arrested on Saturday on three American campuses, as police evacuated some of the camps, in a student movement that continues to expand across America.

Pro-Palestinian students and activists were arrested all last week across America and then released without prosecution.

At these demonstrations, left-wing Jewish students and anti-Zionists support the Palestinian cause, with a keffiyeh on their shoulders, denouncing a “genocide” committed by Israel.

Other young American Jews have expressed their displeasure and fears about these slogans, which they consider anti-Semitic.

This movement reached France, in the Science Po campus, in Paris, where the demonstrators evacuated on Friday, following an agreement with the management.
