King Charles III is preparing to resume his public activities next Tuesday, his doctors considering “very encouraging” the evolution of his health since the announcement of the cancer diagnosis, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday, reports AFP and Reuters, taken by Agerpres.

“His Majesty the King will soon resume his public activities after a period of treatment and recovery following a cancer diagnosis,” according to a palace statement. His doctors consider the progress made so far “very encouraging” and remain “optimistic” about his ongoing recovery, a Buckingham Palace spokesman added.

The public commitments will, however, be “adapted if necessary to minimize the risks for the recovery” of the king, the quoted source indicated.

He and his wife Camilla will visit a cancer center next Tuesday where the royal couple will meet medical teams and patients, according to the palace.

Charles, 75, and Camilla, 76, will host Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and his wife, Empress Masako, for a state visit at the end of June at the invitation of the United Kingdom.

The Japanese Imperial Couple attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022 in London.

His public appearances will be decided on a case-by-case basis and will follow the recommendations of his doctors, the Buckingham Palace spokesman said, noting that the sovereign will not follow a “full summer schedule”.

Since the announcement of the cancer diagnosis in early February, the British sovereign has canceled all official public engagements, while continuing to carry out certain official functions or honor certain meetings in a restricted setting, such as his weekly meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

As the first anniversary of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla approaches, “Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the expressions of kindness and well wishes they have received from around the world during good times and challenges from last year”, the press release states.

Buckingham Palace announced in early February that King Charles III was suffering from cancer, detected during a prostate operation a few days earlier, and that the sovereign had already begun medical treatment.

His last public appearance dates back to March 31 when King Charles III arrived at Saint-George’s Chapel on the Windsor Royal Estate to attend the traditional Anglican Easter religious ceremony, his first major public appearance since announcing that he was suffering from cancer two months ago.
