The first electronically signed birth certificate was issued on Wednesday by the Civil Status Service in Cluj-Napoca, mayor Emil Boc announced, in a desperate image campaign.
Through a project with European funding, the Civil Status Service in the municipality of Cluj-Napoca now allows the preparation of civil status documents: birth, marriage and death in electronic format, including the issuance of certificates.
“We are at a moment in history. Today we will issue the first birth certificate digitally signed by the mayor and the registrar. What does that mean? That the citizens of Cluj who have the happy opportunity to have a son or daughter come here only with the documents, with the birth certificate, with the civil status documents, with the marriage certificate, if they are not married, with the declaration of recognition of paternity. Those documents are scanned on the spot here and the birth certificate is issued, which you receive on the same day, in the shortest possible time“, Emil Boc pointed out.
Historically, the Metropolitan Belt would have been completed on January 1, 2024, as promised by Emil Boc, in 2018.
