He also spoke about the Middle East and stated that, in his opinion, China could “reduce tensions” in this region, especially with the help of its major influence on Iran.

“I think China’s relations can be positive to try to reduce tensions, prevent escalation and prevent the spread of conflict,” Blinken said.

As for TikTok, which the US is threatening to ban on its territory, Blinken said the matter was not discussed in his meetings in Beijing, instead saying he had conveyed to Chinese officials the US government’s concern about “trade practices disloyal” and asked them for “equal conditions” in this chapter.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed a law forcing the platform to sever all ties with its Chinese parent company ByteDance, otherwise TikTok, which is very popular in the US, will be removed from smartphone app stores in the US .
