Romania is not participating in Eurovision 2024
Romania will not participate in Eurovision 2024. The Board of Directors of SRTv did not approve participation in this year’s edition of the prestigious competition. TVR will not take part in the music competition due to financial constraints.
The decision was taken at the meeting on Thursday, January 25, with 5 votes “for”, 4 “abstentions” and 4 “against”. The Board of Directors also approved the SRTv budget for the current year. It does not include the funds necessary for the country’s participation the standards of the music competition would be higher every year, and our country would no longer afford it.
“Financial constraints and the desire to represent Romania at a high performance level are the reasons why the Board of Directors (CA) decided that TVR will not participate in this year’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC)”, TVR explained the decision.
