In the press, information appeared that Lucian Bode, the general secretary of the PNL, sent a circular in the territory to all the heads of organizations on Wednesday. He asks them to request the county electoral offices to reject the AUR Alliance for the local elections. The argument is that the AUR does not meet “a substantive, determining condition”, that is, the AUR did not register any electoral sign, and the registration period ended on April 10.
The AUR alliance was to be formed for the local elections from the AUR party, the Republican Party and the Romanian National Conservative Party, led by MEP Cristian Terheș.
Marian Cucșa, the president of the Republican Party, told Hotnews.ro that the PNL approach shows that the liberals are afraid of “GOLD and the people”.

“In this official way, I announce to those from PNL and PSD that the Alliance between the AUR and the Republican Party is moving forward, but the way in which we will run is determined by us.
They can file as many appeals as they want, let’s move forward.
The method of candidacy will be under the logo of the AUR party, not the Alliance,” Cucșa told Hotnews.ro.
In this situation, members of the Republican Party who will run for local elections will be obliged to register in the AUR.
“The political commitment remains in force. The Republican Party stands alone. It’s just a discussion for the local elections.

There are many colleagues who do not run for local offices,” said the president of the Republican Party.
The situation is therefore also valid in Satu Mare. So Adrian Ștef, former president of the County Council, vice president of the Republican Party, will have to register in the AUR if he wants to run again.
Alliance valid only at the European Parliament

The president of the Romanian National Conservative Party, Cristian Terheș (photo p1), stated for Hotnews.ro that the AUR Alliance is in force for the European parliamentary elections, not for local ones. “In the local elections, we go separately. We are not part of this construction. We are in discussions, today is the last day to submit electoral alliances, but we do not have candidates in all counties. I discussed punctually with colleagues from AUR and the Republican Party to make alliances in the local elections as well, but I understood that it is no longer possible”, was the position expressed by Cristian Terheș for Hotnews.ro. The MEP specified that “in many places the decision was taken to go separately in order not to raise the electoral threshold to 8%”, a threshold valid in the case of electoral alliances.
The PNCR leader added that there are many communes where former elected officials of the National Peasant Party have decided to go on the lists of the National Conservative Party. The president of the National Management Council of the AUR, Claudiu Târziu, told Hotnews.ro that he has given up participating in the local elections in the form of an alliance. “The PNL shows stuttering not only when it nominates its own candidates in the local elections, but also when it tries to put sticks in the wheels of its political opponents. They had information, but it is outdated. The information was that we had the intention of forming an electoral alliance for localities as well with our partners, the National Conservative Party of Romania and the Republican Party, but, in the end, because there were not many localities in which to form this alliance, I gave up the idea”, Târziu explained to Hotnews.ro. The senator emphasized that the PNCR will go to the local lists on its own lists, and the Republican candidates will register in the AUR.
