The Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary, Zholt Shemien, declared that Budapest will not hand over Ukrainian male refugees who are of conscription age to Kiev, reports Atv.hu.

Shemien said that “every refugee” from Ukraine is “completely safe and receives all the help” with us.

“Hungary will not extradite refugees to Ukraine. We do not investigate whether, according to the Ukrainians, a person is enlistable or not. On the basis of basic humanity, we will not allow them to be sent to death”, declared the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister.

Shemien specified that, in the case of the Hungarians from Transcarpathia, this is a “natural national duty” of Budapest, and in the case of the Ukrainians, it is a humanitarian and legal gesture, since no one whose life will be in danger is subject to extradition.

“The Ukrainians want us to hand them over so they can be sent to war, to the front where people die. Therefore, those who fled to us from Ukraine are all safe, and we will not extradite them”, declared the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister.

On April 23, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine decided to temporarily suspend the provision of services in Ukrainian diplomatic institutions for men whose age falls under the law on mobilization.

The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olga Stefanisna, declared that Ukraine will not request the return of military-age men from abroad by force.
