Costică Pobirci remembers exactly how it all happened and claims that one of the causes of the brain accident is the fatigue accumulated during hundreds of sleepless nights, during which she sang at various events to make people happy.

“I was at home, I had to go to a concert and I fell off my feet. Because of cholesterol, I had it increased. I knew nothing, I had no premonition, nothing hurt. Fatigue…We sang on Friday, Saturday and we were going to go to the funeral on Sunday, as is done after the wedding”, Costică recounts, with luxury of detail, the moment when he suddenly felt ill.

Weeks in the hospital and months of medical recovery followed. The shocking moment for him, however, was when he realized that he was paralyzed and could no longer move an arm and a leg. “I was taken by ambulance and arrived at Neurology. In the morning when I wanted to get out of bed, I realized that I was paralyzed. For three days and three nights I stared at the ceiling. I spent two weeks at Tg-Jiu in the hospital, then two months at Sadu for recovery. I also went to recovery in February and I’m trying to move somehow, maybe I’ll be able to recover. I can barely walk with a cane. I can’t move my left hand and leg,” Costică continues to tell the story of the torments he has been going through for almost a year.

After the fateful day of July 22, 2023, without constant income, Costică’s family’s savings ran out, so he made the decision to sell his violin on the Internet for 2,500 lei. He needs money for recovery, so he turned to friends, acquaintances and people with a soul to help him. “I am scheduled on May 13 and I would need 3,000 lei for medical recovery. I can’t afford to go from Runcu by taxi to Tg-Jiu every day. I tell you honestly that I have exhausted all the resources of the family. The only income was from singing. What else can I sing because I can’t move a finger on my left hand”, said Costică Pobirci.
