Bistrita City Hall has identified an area in the city where it can arrange up to 300 new residential parking spaces. The land belongs to the municipality, but in order to have access to it, something still needs to be done by the end of this year, said mayor Ioan Turc.
According to the mayor, 2045 parking spaces will result from the projects that the administration is considering, and another 300-400 parking spaces from the reorganization of some lands on which, whether they are parking lots or can be transformed into parking lots.
“In the Andrei Mureșanu – Colibiței area, a congested area, we identified a piece of land on which today there are tanneries and which everyone thought belonged to the CFR. It’s not like that! It belongs to the City Hall. It is about a hectare of land opposite Colibiței, a land on which we want to build more than 300 parking spaces. There is the CFR platform and a building, a ruin – I notified the people from CFR Marfă to either take it down or repair it – that ramp is of strategic interest, I was told by the Ministry of Defense, so I didn’t could take it over. Instead, we have identified this land that borders the railway, and under the conditions that we will create a level crossing with the railway, in such a way that people can easily cross from one side to the other, that parking that we will do it fast, i.e. by the end of the year, it will help that area a lot. Parking spaces must be distributed in the city as evenly as possible”, said Ioan Turc in a show on Bistrita FM.
The mayor also explained here that not everyone will be able to park in front of the building because the number of cars has increased enormously.
“Besides the fact that we have around 60,000 cars in the city, we have another problem: the dynamics of the increase in the number of cars is high. In a single year, 2000 new cars were registered. After all, the balance has to be created somehow naturally. The administration will have to do everything possible for people to have residential parking, but at the same time we will have to think about how we manage the current and future parking stock that will increase by at least 3000 more parking spaces in addition to 1000 already made. There are families that have four cars. One is a 4×4 with which he goes from time to time to the countryside or off-road. Two parking spaces, I think, must be provided by the family, but where we are discussing the third, fourth, fifth parking space, we have to see what we do. I will consult with the people of Bistrita because I don’t want to make decisions on my own. It is not the creation of hundreds of parking spaces in one place that solves the problem, but the creation of parking spaces in as large an area as possible”, said Ioan Turc.
According to the mayor, another large parking lot will be on Calea Moldovei, in the place of the current market, which is located on a generous plot of land belonging to the Bistrita City Hall. Marketers will be moved to the future modernized Decebal Square.
