The first highway tunnel in our country has already been drilled, with workers working around the clock to complete the work.
It is about the tunnel on the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway route.

One of the state secretaries from the Ministry of Transport, Irinel Scrioşteanu, said that he was on the construction site where the tunnel is being dug in the Tigveni – Curtea de Argeș area of the A1 Sibiu – Pitesti Highway.
“We have the first km of tunnel drilled, being executed a total of 1013 meters on both lines, of which 580 meters of tunnel on the line exiting the tunnel, direction Sibiu-Pitesti (Daniela Tunnel) and 433 meters of tunnel on the line entering the tunnel, direction Pitesti-Sibiu (Alina Tunnel).
The first intermediate tunnel was built, which will be used as a pedestrian passage between the two Alina and Daniela tunnel lines or an escape route after opening to traffic.
As for the sandy area on the Daniela tunnel, it has been well overcome and it will be overcome in the next period also on the Alina Tunnel.

According to him, the company carrying out the work has mobilized a number of 590 workers and 185 machines in the construction site, and the works will continue during the Easter holidays.
The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport stated that the execution of the piles required for one of the tunnel wires has begun.
“The drilling, reinforcement and concreting of the 20,500 ml of piles needed for the structures related to this highway section was completed, and the execution of the piles needed for one of the tunnel threads began.
7 out of 16 footing foundations were completed; 41,000 cubic meters of concrete needed for the structures were poured.
Technological roads were completed; continues the production of beams and prefabricated pallets necessary for the structures in the organization of the construction site, with 32 prefabricated beams and approx. 3000 m2 of prefabricated pallets having been made up to now.
Drilling, reinforcement and concreting of small-diameter piles for the improvement of the foundation ground continue, being 85% completed.
