Mircea Fechet participated on Monday in the inauguration of the third SGR center for counting and sorting packaging, in Braşov. The minister claims that the return guarantee system is on the right track, and has even changed the lives of Romanians – on certain days, more than 3 million packages are collected.
“Today, we can say that the Guarantee-Return System has changed the lives of all Romanians. When we talk about the SGR, we are also talking about such places as the one here and we are not only referring to the billions of PETs, bottles or aluminum cans, we are referring to investments, we are referring to jobs. The Warranty-Return system is making fantastic progress.
I can’t help but be happy when I hear that on certain days more than 3 million packages are collected because that means we are on the right track. However, we must not forget that the system is obliged to keep pace so that the capacity to take over packaging from traders increases in order to cope with the growing volume of packaging picked up by small traders, from HORECA, from the food sector public” declared Mircea Fechet.
However, many Romanians contradict the minister and are not happy with how the return guarantee system works. They complain that the waste collection machines do not work. On Friday, Mircea Fechet declared that the stores could be forced to take the pets manually and offer their value at the checkout.
