10 cultural spaces in 7 cities become the hosts of a cultural education program dedicated to World Poetry Day (March 21, 2024). Poetry Night is a project that unites literature, arts and music in a celebration of verse, of poetry. I learned details about this project from the poet Dan Mircea Cipariu.

“It is World Poetry Day, as voted and decided by UNESCO. I proposed with the Euro CulturArt Association, which I chair, a completely and completely innovative project. I think that at the present time it is perhaps the most impactful project to promote poetry in Romania, because today, with the help of the Radio Romania Network, we can do 10 performances, 10 shows of poetry, music and visual arts in 7 cities in Romania. ”

Poetry Night in Bucharest

Because poetry needed an evening in which to feel like a queen, on her birthday, she received as a gift, several evenings in which to shine. Poets, actors and visual artists met in four cultural places, in Bucharest, to celebrate it.

“In Bucharest we are in four places, at the National Museum of Romanian Literature, from 7 p.m., where our friend, Mike Godoroja, will be the host of an evening that brings perhaps the most popular contemporary Romanian poets. From Cluj, he already came yesterday, me Ion Mureșan, Ioan S Pop together with Ioana Iuna Șerban, Livia Roșca, Dan Pleșa and, of course, Mike Godoroja and The Blue Spirit. I will moderate, starting at 19:00, at Teatrelli Creart, a show that has as guests Ioana Crăciunescu, Florin Iaru, Sorin Gherguț and Ligia Keșișian and two absolutely exceptional guests.. It’s about the good my friend, Master George Mihăiță, who will read some poems by two poets who are now in the heaven of poetry, it is Cornelia Maria Savu and Traian T Coșovei. The second guest, for whom I am extremely grateful, is Mircea Vintilă, with whom I am also planning something very interesting. This is at Teatrelli Creart, where my friend Mihai Zgondoiu, who did the visual part for Poetry Night, is preparing a visual performance consisting of 7 tortures, poetic tortures. His performance is called “A slice of poetry”

Each of the 80 participants, participants, ticket buyers, will receive a slice of poetry.”

An idea as much as a project with an international future

From the idea to the project was only one step, and today we can enjoy its originality, as well as distinguished guests, art, song and poetry. A celebration of verse that could transcend the borders of the country.

“It’s a totally and totally innovative idea, I want to export it to Europe from next year, it’s the format I thought of. That is, there must be a local station that broadcasts this show, and the show must have the following ingredients: there must be a few poets, no more than five, with a moderator and everything. The moderator himself should be a poet, very important. Let there be no more than five poets, let’s treat the poets like stars, let there be, of course, a visual artist who will do something based on the poems of those who are invited there, and very importantly, let him be an actor to read from the poetry of great poets.”

Poetry, the space where the image is drawn with words

If we ask ourselves what poetry is, where it comes from, what exactly triggers the poetic image, the one that generates verses, the answers will always surprise us in a different way. The guest of the edition, the writer and journalist Dan Mircea Cipariu, also spoke to us about the poetic image and the substance of the poem.

“A poetic image is a metaphysical accident of thought, brain, language, and memory. And why do I say memory? Because day by day we form, deform, reform inner images. Or, when we reach the one who would be the receiver or who simply diffuses these inner images, who could be generically called a poet, then the sum of possibilities is an infinite one, as an esthetician and mathematician said, if a poetic image admits one interpretation, then it can admit an infinity of interpretations. So are we in this case. More important, however, seems to me to be the deeper approach to poetry. Why? Because, in fact, there is no creative act, creative act, without starting from a triggering poetic image.”
