The disastrous situation of Romanian judo today is explained by Marius Vizer, the president of the International Judo Federation, in an interview given to FANATIK.

In the article signed by Horia Ivanovici, Marius Vizer does not hesitate to state: “Let’s not forget about Cozmin Gușa that, throughout his career, he destroyed everything he touched… Wherever his name was associated, bankruptcy came, everything collapsed, because Gușa is unable to complete any project. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about politics, the media or judo, he left only waste where he passed… He’s not only the gravedigger of Romanian judo, he’s also the gravedigger of all the projects he ever initiated”.

In what state do you think the Romanian Judo Federation is today? And I’m not necessarily referring to the results – for seniors, practically, we no longer exist on the international level -, but to the Federation’s strategy, credibility, projection for the future… Cozmin Gușă declared that he has stabilized the Romanian Judo Federation in the last period.

– What stabilization are we talking about, if the Federation does not have any judoka qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris?! Since Cozmin Gușa became the head of the FRJ, the important results practically disappeared completely. In terms of financial support, the situation is precarious, and the national and international image is dusty, because it is associated with the image of someone like Goușa. When you have no vision, you cannot talk about the future – the present has proven it!

It’s like the Champions League, if you want… There are two things you can do when you don’t get to the Champions League: either you admire the competition from afar and simply enjoy it, even if you can’t access it, or you envy it and you blame her Cozmin Gușa chose the second path, which, by the way, represents him!

Vizer, disappointed by the accusations that he would no longer even be Romanian: “I will never disown Romania, my roots are from there”

I notice that you speak with regret, but also with great affection, about Romanian judo… And yet, you were accused of not even being Romanian anymore…

Yes, I’ve heard this shit… I don’t want to elaborate too much because I should be responding to a caliber aberration. I want to emphasize only one thing: Romania is the country where I was born, the country I will always respect! That’s where I drew my roots, my sap… That’s where I trained, primarily as a sportsman. It is the place where, with emotion, I entered a judo hall for the first time, stepped on the tatami for the first time. Romania will remain a part of my soul and I would never allow myself to affect the interest of the sport that I have represented for a lifetime, even more judo in Romania. It would be totally against my principles, the principles of judo. On the contrary, within the limits of my mandate, I have helped the development and growth of this sport in Romania, both from an institutional and private perspective.

Romanian judo had, has and will have an extraordinary potential for great performance, a very good human potential, a sporting potential, a pedagogical potential, but everything depends on the quality of those who lead it now, a very low one! I have great confidence, however, that in the coming years Romanian judo will once again become an important pillar, a landmark in world judo.

What does the president of FR Judo, Cozmin Gușă, have to share with you?

– Cozmin Gușă invented and promoted a false conflict with me, to divert attention from the deplorable state in which he brought the Romanian Judo Federation. My name is obsessively used to propagate diversions and maintain, I repeat, a false conflict. With increasingly pathetic arguments, they try to divert the public’s attention from the lack of results, from the lack of performance that has become unacceptable, insisting on “shadowing” the dramatic state in which Romanian judo has reached the level of results and perception in Romania and not only.

Can you develop this topic?

– Cozmin Gușa betrayed judo, he betrayed all the principles of judo! He is a man who sums up all the anti-qualities that a man coming from judo or who loves this sport should not have.

Judo means tradition. Cozmin Gușa does not respect any kind of tradition! He does not respect even the seniors of the sport and does not know how to respect the past of this extraordinary discipline. The complexity of judo is beyond him! The great athletes have already given everything to judo, on all levels: sporting, educational, administrative, diplomatic, promotional, emotional. They are and remain the treasures of our sport. For this individual, however, traditions mean nothing!

Judo means moral. Cozmin Gușa is completely amoral.

Judo means respect. Cozmin Gușa has no respect for anyone and anything! Gouša doesn’t even respect himself, when he shamelessly lies, shamelessly invents things that never happened!

Judo means truth. Cozmin Gușa is living a lie!

Judo means Courage. Cozmin Gușa is a coward! Only a coward can hide his incompetence and helplessness behind constant diversions and untruths. Some downright hilarious, which no one simply pays attention to anymore.

So, Cozmin Gușă sums up all the “qualities” that would force him not to continue at the top of this sport. It’s for nothing that he becomes the legal guardian of sports in general… He is nothing more than the gravedigger of Romanian judo!
