Greece, whose 2004 triumph is seen as one of the biggest upsets in European Championship history, missed out on qualification for EURO 2024 after being beaten 4-2 by Georgia in a penalty shoot-out in the Route C final of the barrage for the final tournament in Germany.

Greece miss out on EURO 2024 qualification – Defeated by Georgia on penalties
Despite numerous chances for both teams, the score was 0-0 after 120 minutes, so a penalty shoot-out was required.
Kochorashvili, Davitashvili, Dvali and Kvekveskiri scored for Georgia (Mikautadze, pupil of Ladislau Boloni at Metz missed), while Greece scored only through Masouras and Bouchalakis (captain Bakasteas and Giakoumakis missed).
Players who qualified Georgia for EURO 2024: Mamardashvili – Kvirvelia, Kashia, Dvali – Shengelia (Tsitaishvili ’86), Kiteishvili (Kvekveskiri ‘104), Kochorashvili, Kakabadze – Chakvetadze (Davitashvili ‘104), Zivzivadze (Mikautadze ’75), Kvaratskhelia (Kvilitaia ‘109).
After winning in front of the 54,139 people who came to the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena (Tbilisi), the Georgians achieved their first qualification to the final tournament of a European Championship.
At EURO 2024 (June 14 – July 14), Georgia will be part of Group F, along with Portugal, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
