Moto G34 5G, performance hard to beat in its price segment

--

We have been testing a Moto G34 5G from Motorola for a few days. A phone in the affordable price zone, which has the great merit of not neglecting any important aspect for a smartphone. Of course, everything viewed through the lens of its selling price. Practically a device that offers an unbeatable price/performance ratio within a purchase price of 1000 lei. Of course, we are talking here about manufacturers who have at least a name in the smartphone market. And especially those who have a solid presence on the local market as well. And this seems to me to be the great argument of this terminal: that it also meets these conditions. Which is why I thought it deserved a short material just for this aspect.

Basically, our device comes equipped with a Snapdragon 695 5G chipset from Qualcomm. A stable chipset capable of decent performance. The hardware core is complemented by a RAM memory of 8 GB. A respectable amount, which we don’t often find in this price segment. We even have some devices with high-end ambitions that still come with this RAM. Here seems to be the key element of this device, at its core is stable, well-optimized hardware capable of performance that can easily satisfy the demands of an average Android user. All at an affordable price. A happy report, which we will analyze in the following.

Of course, the terminal has other arguments on its side. A rather elegant construction, an above-average autonomy, a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz or the presence on board of the eSIM support. We have listed only a few of the elements that distinguish the Moto G34 5G in its price segment. But these will be the subject of another material. Until then, let’s get back to the performance part.

Full technical specifications

Of course, to properly analyze a price/performance ratio, we need to review the configuration part first. So, the Moto G34 5G full spec list:

  • Screen: IPS LCD
  • Diagonal: 6.5 inches
  • Resolution: HD+ (720 x 1600 pixels)
  • Density: 270 ppi

  • Colors: Charcoal Black, Ice Blue, Ocean Green, Vanilla Cream
  • Dimensions: 162.7 x 74.6 x 8 mm
  • Weight: 179 g

We see a list of technical specifications that is impressive enough for the price category that the phone belongs to. Several memory combinations are available, we have specified the one we have for testing. And which we also see in the offers of Motorola’s partners on the Romanian market.

I tested the Ice Blue color version, with the plastic back. The attention that Motorola pays to the design and materials used is visible especially in the Ocean Green color variant, which has an ecological leather back. And that actually looks good. But you have to take my word for it here.

As I said, the Moto G34 5G has other arguments on its side beyond the hardware core, such as autonomy, screen refresh rate, eSIM support. But now we strictly deal with the price-performance ratio.

Very attractive selling price

And we start with the price part. Motorola recommends a selling price of 999 lei for the Moto G34 5G model. We find the terminal at this price in the eMAG.ro offer, fixed in the configuration (8 GB RAM + 128 GB) and the color (Ice Blue) of the test sample. Below is a screenshot, because the prices keep changing.

At the same price, the terminal is on sale and in the Altex offer. Another screenshot below.

These are prices for the purchase of the phone free of network. However, it can also be found in the offers of mobile operators. At Digi Mobile, for example, we have the following offers:

The terminal also appears in the Orange Romania offer. See the offer for it below.

I’m sure that a more thorough search can reveal even more attractive offers for this phone, at least in the offers of the two carriers that have it in their offers.

But the essence is different. We have a 1000 lei terminal. Right from the start, we must state that in the standard package we have included a 20W charger. But also a protective cover made of transparent silicone. For other models, the offer from MobileDirect.ro.

Both the charger and the protective case are accessories that, in the case of direct competitors, should be purchased separately. And which together are easily 100 lei. So the price of 1000 lei that this model claims can already be looked at differently.

More than decent performance

Through the same prism of the attractive purchase price, we must also look at the performance generated by the hardware core of the Moto G34 5G. Performances that are quantified for us in the first instance by the most popular benchmark applications. We started with the popular and at the same time controversial AnTuTu Benchmark. See the results in the screenshots below.

I then ran the PCMark performance tests. The result is visible below.

Geekbench 6 tests yielded the following results:

At the end I also ran some tests from GFX Bench.

But also some tests from 3DMark. This, although we are not dealing with a gaming phone, but we wanted to have a somewhat complete picture in the area of benchmarks.

Anyway, the hardware core part (chipset + RAM memory) does an extremely good job.

Beyond the benchmark applications, a special note is given by the behavior of the terminal in everyday use. Even during the benchmark test period, it did not heat up at all. It ran smoothly, didn’t crash, stop or reset.

I think that the rather clean operating system, close to the factory form, also contributes to the performance above the average of the category it belongs to. A feature with which Motorola has established itself and which I personally appreciate very much in this manufacturer.

Conclusion: good performance for the asking price

From the arguments presented above, it is very clear that the Moto G34 5G offers a price/performance ratio that is quite difficult to match on the local market. Especially among phones that come from manufacturers with a solid presence in this market. Here I think is the big argument of this affordable device. For 999 lei, the buyer receives a stable, reasonably performing phone with an elegant and neat physical appearance. Plus a protective case and a 20W charger. Very important detail, especially in this price segment.

Of course, as I’ve kept repeating, I’ve identified other arguments that are on the side of the G34 5G. But which I invite you to discover in a future material.
