Florinel Țuilă is one of the oldest mayors in Gorj county.
He has been in office since 2000. He is running for a new mandate in the local elections on June 9.
The mayor of Cătunele commune will have only two counter-candidates. Florinel Țuilă states that people are tired of politics, that’s why they choose to stay away from parties. Plus, he says accomplished mayors are hard to beat.
“There are 3 candidates for the position of mayor and 4 political formations for the local council. Compared to other years, there are fewer political parties and fewer candidates for mayor. I think that people are also tired of politics, on the one hand, on the other hand, it is known that mayors in office, if they have done their job, have a good chance of regaining their mandates, and then it is not so much interest to apply. I will not enter the electoral campaign this year. I have work, I have ongoing projects, I focus on the works that I have as investments, on PNRR, on Anghel Saligny and I have no time for the electoral campaign.
On the last day of the campaign, I will make a team of young people with whom I will go through the commune with song and good cheer. I have to complete the domestic sewerage which, this year, will amount to 90%, to install the gas network for which I obtained financing on Anghel Saligny, work that will be completed in the next 2 years. I have the works in progress for this year, modernization of bridges, modernization of the town hall, modernization of Lupoaia school, cultural center with European funds. We are starting a new school with a local budget. And in the next mandate, I plan to modernize all the roads. After the sewerage and gas will be passed, the roads will have to be rebuilt, gutters, pedestrian walkways and a new layer of asphalt with road reprofiling, because there will be no more infrastructure investments”, concluded the mayor.
