On War Veterans Day, two delegations made up of representatives of the Prefect’s Institution – Gorj County, the Gorj County Council, the Târgu Jiu Garrison, the Gorj County Military Center and the National Association of War Veterans honored Gorj war veterans at their homes: Lt. Col. rtr. Condel N. Ion – Bumbești Pițic, Col. rtr. Passare I. Florea – Prigoria, Lt. Col. rtr. Manasia C. Ion – Polovragi, Mr. rtr. Păunescu Constantin – Alimpești, Col. rtr. Bădescu Constantin – Aninoasa, Mr. rtr. Heleșteanu Marin – Târgu Jiu, Slt. rtr. Sichitiu Adam – Turcinești and the war widow Vochița I. Maria, wife of Soldier Vochița C. Ilie – Logrești.
At the end of the action, a wreath was placed at the grave of General Constantin Ispas in the Turcinești cemetery.
“With honor and gratitude, we bow to the courage and sacrifice of our county’s war veterans. May their memory always be alive in our hearts and, year after year, let us bring them due respect and gratitude for their uninterrupted devotion to the country, for the defense of freedom and our values,” according to the Gorj Prefecture.
