“Reports in the foreign press regarding the sale of TikTok by ByteDance are not true,” is the announcement made by the company, in a post in which it denies that there is a possibility that the application is sold to avoid its ban in the US, notes BBC.

Beijing’s tightening of control over private companies has raised concerns among the US and other Western countries about how much control the Chinese Communist Party has over ByteDance and the data it holds.

TikTok representatives have repeatedly denied allegations that the Chinese government has control over ByteDance. For its part, the leadership in Beijing denied that it had access to the data of the application’s users and warned that a ban on TikTok would “inevitably backfire on the US”.

“We are confident and will continue to fight for your rights in the courts,” TikTok chief Shou Zi Chew said in a video posted on the platform this week, according to the source cited.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed the law by which ByteDance is obliged to divest from the application, otherwise TikTok will be banned in the US. The Chinese owner has nine months to make this transaction to avoid the ban in the American states, and if there is progress regarding the transaction process, the deadline can be extended by Joe Biden for another three months.
