The PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall, Gabriela Firea, said on Friday that she has confidence in her chances in the elections, because Bucharest looks “much worse than four years ago”, reports Agerpres.

Gabriela Firea was asked, at PSD headquarters, if she thinks that Marcel Ciolacu really wants her to win the elections for the Capital City Hall.

“I am convinced that yes, because, otherwise, on that very long, 16-hour day, at the Government, when the Coalition meeting was held, he would not have told me that this is the best option for Bucharest, for the people of Bucharest. I trust my chances, because Bucharest looks much worse than four years ago, there is a lot of mess, there are a lot of potholes, rats on the streets, unsanitary parks, nothing has been done with public transport, the heating network is damaged, for two years the 300 million euros, European funds, obtained by my team were not used and then it is normal, by comparison, for the people of Bucharest to consider that I had a better mandate and to return to the City Hall to to continue my projects and to come up with new projects”, said Firea.

She mentioned that time is “an enemy”, because she announced her candidacy very late.

“Time is indeed an enemy, but I consider that it is not an impediment, because time can always become a friend if I directly address the citizens of Bucharest in direct meetings, as I had as a senator from Bucharest and will have in continuation and through the media”, stated Firea.

Firea does not believe that she will be affected by the asylum scandal: “I have no reason to pay for something that I did not do wrong”

Gabriela Firea says that she is not to blame in the asylum scandal in Ilfov, which has become a criminal investigation. “I have no reason to pay for something I didn’t do wrong,” says Firea, showing herself confident that she can win a new mandate as general mayor.

“Mr. President and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu mentioned this scandal precisely by emphasizing the fact that I was not involved, that I have no fault and that I have no reason to pay for something that I did not do wrong”, said Firea, when asked if she thinks the asylum scandal will be an obstacle for her in this election.

Asked if she thinks that Marcel Ciolacu really wants her to win a new mandate at the Capital City Hall, Firea answered: “I am convinced that yes, because otherwise, in that very long, 16-hour day at the Government when before the meeting of the coalition, he would have said that this is the best option for Bucharest”.

She admits that, given that her candidacy was announced very late, time is “an enemy”, but “not an impediment” and time can always be “a friend” if she addresses “directly to the people of Bucharest”.
