Once this year’s edition of the Participatory Budget in Timișoara is launched, the mayor’s office is launching calls for the selection of campaign partners, as well as external members of the Participatory Budget Commission. Civically involved citizens are invited to support this initiative. The deadline for registration, both for committee members and partners, is May 13, 2024, 10:00 p.m.
The Participatory Budget Commission monitors the implementation of the campaign and compliance with its objectives and principles, verifies the eligibility of project proposals received, coordinates, together with specialists from the town hall, the technical, legal and financial analysis of eligible project proposals, publicly announces the projects that will enter the stage of voting, as well as the winning projects, centralizes and publishes information on their implementation and evaluates the campaign.

The role of local partners (non-governmental organizations active in the area, schools, other institutions, etc.) is to ensure a greater degree of inclusion and dissemination within the community by promoting the campaign especially in the physical environment, organizing and facilitating 2-3 meetings in neighborhoods with citizens interested in submitting proposals within the campaign. The aim is for the campaign message to reach mainly citizens who are not digitally connected, but also to other groups (e.g. elderly people, people with disabilities).

The campaign “Timișoara decides!” is an annual initiative of the Municipality of Timișoara, which aims to identify projects of local interest initiated by citizens and which can be undertaken by the City Hall of Timișoara, being an important step in the implementation of the complex process of open governance.
