Gloria Buzău is the second team from the second tier to be promoted to League 1 this season. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu also attended the promotion match, in which Gloria defeated the leader of league 2, Unirea Slobozia, and which was played on the ground in Buzău.
Gloria Buzău returns to the first league in Romania after an absence of 15 years, and after the team went bankrupt in 2016 and another club, FC Buzău, was founded in the same year and took over the children and junior groups of the bankrupt club. Later, in 2017, FC Buzău promoted to League 3 and also took over the name of the former team, calling itself FC Gloria Buzău.
The return to the first league was recorded on Tuesday, after Gloria defeated Unirea Slobozia 3-0, the leader in League 2 and the champion team of the second echelon, which had already mathematically promoted last week.
The team coached by Andrei Prepelita will thus join Unirea Slobozia in the elite echelon.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, also present at this important match for the team from Buzău, sent a message on social networks. “Victory and promotion in League 1 for Gloria Buzău! A difficult season, but which ended en fanfare. Good job boys! We are all proud of you!”, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said.
