On a day that actually felt like summer the University won the toss and elected to bowl in the first game of 2.

We were soon in trouble at 23-4 and continued to lose wickets regularly and were dismissed for only 91 in the final over. Will Luxton made 15, including our only 6, Jawad Akhtar 15, Josh Hoyle 11 and Ben Cliff, batting at number 9 top scored with a career best 20.

While the bowling was good, a number of batters may wish to think about their choice of shots. Calum Fletcher finished with 4-16 and there were 2 wickets each for Henry Pearson and Ben Parker (who played for us last week)

Dom Leech started with a maiden but the target was reached in the 15th over for the loss of only 3 wickets – they were all claimed by Dom Bess who finished with 3-20 from his 4 overs.

The second game saw Josh Hen-Boisen replace Matthew Firbank and he was rewarded by taking his first wicket bowling his 4 overs for 28. The University batted first and reached 129-5 from their 20 overs, six bowlers were used by Yorkshire with 4 of them being spinners. However it was seamer, Ben Cliff, who took the plaudits as he finished with 3-18 from his 4 overs.

Noah Kelly made 21 from 16 balls at the top of the order but it was Will Luxton, batting at 4 who played the major innings making 44 from 32 balls with 3 fours and 2 maximums.

Yorkshire reached their target with 3 balls to spare winning by 3 wickets.

Please note that next action is a 3 day game on Monday 13th May at Bradford Park Avenue.
