About a two-hour flight from Romania hides an extremely popular Mediterranean paradise, with 320 sunny days a year, and in the winter months, the temperature only drops to 17 degrees. Located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, the small island – although it is the third largest in the Mediterranean, after Sicily and Sardinia – is a favorite destination for tourists throughout the year.

Famous for its historical sites, but popular for its beaches and warm temperatures, Cyprus is a favorite holiday destination for many Romanians. Located only two hours by plane from Bucharest, the island is an ideal refuge during this period, as the temperatures approach those of summer.

Even though it is located in a geographical area currently troubled by armed conflict, Cyprus is not directly affected by the fighting between Israel and Hamas or the conflict between Iran and Israel, although it is home to a significant Israeli population that has increased since the beginning of the conflict in October 2023, writes The Times. Security measures around the island have been stepped up since the fighting began, according to local media, which means the small state remains a popular holiday destination for tourists.

Direct flights from Bucharest to Larnaca

A Romanian travel agency has announced the launch of direct charter flights to Larnaca, Cyprus, from June 7 to September 27. The flights will be operated by AnimaWings with the company’s new A220 aircraft. The flights will have a weekly frequency, being operated every Friday, starting from June 7.

A vacation package starts from around 400 euros, with seven nights’ accommodation and air transportation. “Last year, anticipating the increasing interest of Romanians in this very popular holiday destination in the Mediterranean area, also called Aphrodite Island, we did a small test with a few groups of customers. It was a success, so we decided that, from this summer, we will have weekly charter flights to Larnaca. From autumn, we are even planning regular flights to Cyprus, because there is also a great interest in the business area, and we will operate, through AnimaWings, three flights a week to this destination,” says Cristian Pandel, CEO & President of Christian Tour.
