The newest Emergency Reception Unit in the country, ready for inauguration. It was first visited by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu

The new building of the Emergency Reception Unit (UPU) of the Buzău County Hospital, an investment carried out with European money by the County Council, with the support of the Ministry of Development, is ready. The new unit will be inaugurated on May 29, 2024.

The announcement regarding the inauguration date was made on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, by the local authorities, on the occasion of the official visit of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu to his native Buzăul. The Prime Minister declared that the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, will most likely be present at the opening.

The new Emergency Reception Unit of Buzău County Hospital was built from scratch, with European money. The order to start the works was given in 2022. The works started quickly, but along the way several problems arose, so that the completion deadline could not be met.

The opening of the facility was delayed several times, even though construction was complete and equipment was fixed and ready for use in medical emergency management.

The work on the new Emergency Department Unit was completed on December 31, 2023. However, the extension of the county hospital could not be put into use immediately.

The leadership of the Buzău County Council (CJ), the co-financier of the project, said that, although the construction of the building is 100 percent complete, the equipment and furniture were purchased, they were even installed, it had to keep postponing the opening until after obtaining all the necessary approvals the operation of the department in the new building.

Started in 2022, according to the contract signed with the builder, the inauguration of the new UPU Buzău headquarters should have taken place on December 31, 2023, with the completion of the works.

The Buzău Emergency Department unit will have an area of ​​over 1,100 square meters, and outside the building, which has a basement and a ground floor, a parking lot has also been arranged.

The compartmentalization of the space took into account the standards in the field, and the facilities include, in addition to state-of-the-art medical equipment, a modern air conditioning, heating, ventilation, air conditioning system, as well as a modern installation to ensure fire safety.

According to the representatives of the Buzău County Hospital, the new space will ensure greater freedom of movement, eliminating the congestion in the current Emergency Reception Unit.

Present in Buzău, Marcel Ciolacu stated that, together with the Buzău authorities and Minister Rafila, he will look for solutions to solve the shortage of doctors that the hospital has.
