Good news for Pipera enthusiasts comes from Metrorex

Metro train traffic on Magistrala 2 will run directly, starting Thursday, between Tudor Arghezi and Pipera stations, without the need to transfer at Berceni station, informs Metrorex.

According to the company, the train succession interval during peak traffic hours will be 4 minutes, and the travel time from one end of Highway 2 to the other will be approximately 30 minutes.

The Tudor Arghezi metro station was put into circulation in mid-November 2023, but the signaling part was not fully completed.

“It is the first development of the Bucharest metro carried out together with the City Hall of Sector 4 and aims at two more stations from Tudor Arghezi and in the commune of Berceni in Ilfov County. It will be opened, according to the schedule that we made together with the City Hall of Sector 4 and The Ministry of Transport will go there on November 15. The signaling part will not be completed until the end of the year, as the builder told us the metro was running between the Berceni-IMGB station and this Tudor Arghezi station, the newest metro station in Bucharest,” said Mihai Barbu, the president of the Metrorex Board of Directors, on October 18 last year.

The metro station is a multimodal transport point, being directly connected, through an underground pedestrian tunnel, to the nearby multi-storey car park, where people coming from outside the city can safely leave their cars to continue their journey to the center of the Capital using the subway. The investment amounted to 50 million euros – non-refundable funds, unique in Romania due to the fact that it was built by a local administration. Together with the connecting line, the new station has an area of ​​over 15,000 square meters, between Berceni station, the current end of Highway 2 and the Ring Road, and has a route with a total length of 1.6 kilometers.
