The current general mayor, Nicușor Dan, was accused of fighting “real estate sharks” through the courts. Both Gabriela Firea and Sebastian Burduja, his counter-candidates for the Capital’s mayor’s office, consider these developers beneficial to the metropolis. Once their rise was interrupted, they migrated to the areas bordering the Capital, believes Sebastian Burduja, the PNL candidate.

The liberal candidate for mayor of Bucharest, Sebastian Burduja, believes that these “real estate sharks” are a kind of necessary evil for a metropolis. From his point of view, they ensure the development of the city. The lawsuits filed by the current mayor, Nicușor Dan, would do nothing but stop development, Burduja believes.

They can be a problem and we must not allow it. I can, yes, they are, they were categorically, but you see, Mr. Mayor General blocked all the development of the city. So, I’m not saying to allow any kind of thing, illegal or even on the edge of the law. But you have to let the city develop, because otherwise what happened in the last 4 years happens. Bucharest lost its population. Maybe the real estate sharks moved to the vicinity of Bucharest and then, in fact, you aggravated the problem of traffic, and the problem of public services, public transport and the fact that the heating system, of course, is much more difficult to reach a commune bordering Bucharest. In fact, you didn’t solve the problem, you made it worse. So we have to allow the development of the city. We need a city that attracts people, that attracts human resources. Bucharest attracts… It attracts, but unfortunately rejects it in the nearby residential area!, claims the liberal Minister of Energy and candidate for the position of general mayor of the Municipality of Bucharest.

Chaotic development can be a problem for the capital and a mayor with a plan is needed, Sebastian Burduja also said. One of the consequences is that a lot of the population has migrated out of the city.
