PHOTO: The Olympic swimming pool in Alba Iulia reopens its doors with equipment of international standards

Alba Iulia City Hall announces the reopening of the Olympic Swimming Pool, a symbol of the city, now modernized to international standards. The implementation of new technologies ensures a reduction of over 60% in energy consumption and emissions.

The event marks the completion of a large energy efficiency project, financed by the generosity of Norwegian grants and coordinated by Innovation Norway, within the “Energy in Romania” Program.

The Olympic Basin positions itself as a leader in energy efficiency and ecological responsibility by adopting advanced technological solutions such as:

• Thermal system of heat pumps and cogeneration unit providing both heat and electricity with optimized efficiency;
• Two state-of-the-art condensing boilers, replacing old equipment, increasing efficiency and reducing consumption;
• Automatic external blinds system and ventilated air flow control, key elements in maintaining an ideal indoor climate with minimal energy consumption;
• LED lighting and energy management system for efficient resource monitoring and management.

The implementation of these innovative technologies ensures a significant reduction of around 60% in energy consumption and CO2 emissions, demonstrating the city’s commitment to a green and sustainable future.

The “Innovative energy efficiency Solutions for the Olympic Swimming Pool – Alba Iulia” project is financed by a grant awarded by the Norwegian financial mechanism 2014-2021, within ” Energy Program from Romania”.

The target group of the project is represented by young and adult people, citizens, visitors or tourists who can access the facilities offered by the Olympic swimming pool during sports training and competitions, for swimming learning activities or relaxation. Considering the small number of Olympic swimming pools at the national level, the local presence of such a complex is an advantage for sports training and, at the same time, for improving the health of citizens.
