Which sector of the Capital has the reddest dot?

25,000 Bucharest residents from Sector 1, approximately 10% of the population, are in danger of losing their homes and lives in the event of an earthquake of the intensity of the one in 1977.

I’m not saying it, but the specialists who reached this result based on the expertise of 600 buildings in the Capital. We are not even talking about the hundreds of buildings for which there is no data.

And the one who should have taken care of the situation, Mrs. Clotilde Armand, did nothing but sovereignly ignore all the alarm signals.

It is well known that Sector 1 is considered the most dangerous area in the Capital. With most of the historic monument buildings and heritage buildings, an earthquake would be equivalent to a bombing, which would erase a significant part of the city’s history. The destruction will be felt for decades, because an earthquake that would put a third of Sector 1 on the ground means, in fact, the economic, social and administrative blockade of the entire Capital. I know, it sounds serious, and it is. But the truth must be conveyed at all costs, because people need to be informed.

The damage that the experts estimate is about a third of Romania’s GDP. 100 billion euros, that’s how much the indolence of the town hall with the polka dot, which, busy with endless scandals, completely ignored the ticking time bomb in the Sector would cost us 1.

Preferring to invoke the lack of legislation, lack of money, lack of majority, Clotilde Armand did absolutely nothing. Her pretexts, however, crumble without any tremors.

Legislation exists. In 2022, Parliament passed Law 212 on reducing the seismic risk of buildings. There is money, although from the 300 million euros allocated through the PNRR specifically for reconsolidation, Mrs. Armand did not ask for a single leu for the hundreds of buildings in Sector 1 at risk of imminent collapse in the first earthquake. As for the majority… “We are the majority”, he boasts at every opportunity. And yet they ignore the problems of the majority.

Together with experts, engineers, consultants and people from the administration, we are working on a plan to reconsolidate, rehabilitate and restore the buildings in Sector 1. It is an extraordinary effort that my team is making to find solutions, at the twelfth hour, at a huge crisis passed over in silence by an absent mayoress.

Sector 1 must be rebuilt. I know what I have to do, how I have to do it and which specialists to support my analysis. And most of all, I know there is no time to waste. But for that, on June 9, we must say STOP to the shaky administration of the town hall with a polka dot.
