Sibiu hosted the National Biology Olympiad. Almost 300 students participated

Between April 20-25, 2024, the National Biology Olympiad took place in Sibiu, a competitive event that brought together 282 students passionate about the mysteries of life science.

The competition tests were hosted by the “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College Sibiu, and part of the recreational activities were offered and hosted by the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu.

The Olympians, along with the accompanying teachers and members of the Central Commission, were accommodated at the My Continental and Continental Forum hotels.

During the days spent in Sibiu, our guests visited the Astra Museum and were trained in interactive activities. They discovered the center of Sibiu and the countless exhibits within the Brukenthal National Museum, and through an interactive contest their attention to details and, why not, good knowledge of our city were tested. On Monday, the Biology Department of the Faculty of Sciences offered them three interesting workshops with specialized topics. On Tuesday, they participated in the Aula Magna in the theater play, Antisocial – which the students loved enormously – this being offered by the Theater Department of the Faculty of Letters and Arts. On Wednesday, during the selection test for the extended batch, the students who had the morning free, participated in a series of workshops at the Faculty of Medicine.

The opening ceremony of the Olympiad took place on 20.04.2024, in the Aula Magna of ULB in Sibiu, and the award ceremony took place on 24.04.2024, in Sala Thalia.

The prizes were offered by: the Ministry of Education, “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu, Continental Hotels, Autonom Sibiu, CD Press Publishing, DPH Publishing and the biology community in Sibiu.

There were 4 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 4 third prizes, 43 mentions, 30 special prizes, the special prize for the student with the highest score in the 9th grade, which consisted of a Lenovo tablet M8, offered by the CD Press Publishing House and many other surprise prizes offered by the sponsors of the event.
