The operative subunits of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “AD Ghica” of Teleorman County managed, during 01.05.2024, time 08.00 – 07.05.2024, at 08.00, a number of 184 emergency situations, of which nine were for extinguishing fires, six broke out in the homes of some citizens in the localities Cucuieți, Năsturelu, Alexandria, Băbăita, Zambreasca and Roșiorii de Vedea car fire in the municipality of Roșiorii de Vede, a car tire fire in the town of Peretu and a fire of dry vegetation in the area of ​​the city of Videle, 156 SMURD interventions, for the provision of qualified first aid and the transport of injured or people with problems to the hospital serious medical conditions, 8 road accidents, occurring within the localities Alexandria, Gratia, Cernetu, Buzescu, Plosca, Videle, Călinești and Roșiorii de Vederesults with several injured people requiring first aid and transport to the hospital and 11 other interventions, representing missions to ensure fire prevention and extinguishing measures, animal rescues, activities in support of SAJ Teleorman crews and unlocking doors.

Two road accidents, with six victims

Among the events mentioned above, the most difficult for the Teleorman rescuers were

the road accidents occurring within the radius of the towns of Gratia and Plosca, on Friday and Saturday, resulting in a total of six victims.

La Gratia, three people, one of whom is incarcerated, were saved by firefighters and medical crews who arrived on the scene. The event was managed by the soldiers of the Videle Fire Department and the Roata de Jos (GR) Intervention Guard, who acted with two fire trucks with extrication mode and two SMURD ambulances, as well as two medical crews from the Ambulance Service Teleorman. The SMURD helicopter came to their support and picked up an unconscious victim and transported her to a hospital in Bucharest. All injured persons, aged between 25 and 44, received qualified first aid and were transported to hospital.

At Ploscathe road event took place on Saturday, around 01.05, resulting in three victims, men,

aged between 17 and 48 years. In order to manage this emergency situation, the military firefighters from the Alexandria Detachment acted on the scene, with a special fire truck, an extrication, an SMURD ambulance and two SAJ Teleorman crews. One of the victims was stuck in the deformed body, which was removed by the Teleormani military. Injured, conscious and cooperative persons with various traumas received qualified first aid and were transported to the hospital.

In both road incidents, after taking over the victims, the firefighters continued the missions of ensuring fire prevention and extinguishing measures, and the competent authorities carried out specific investigations in such situations.

Two fires with victims, in Cucuieți and Băbăita

Unfortunately, among the house fire extinguishing interventions, there are also two incidents resulting in casualties. The first took place on Wednesday, 01 May 2024, in the town of Cucuieți, around 4:20 p.m., when rescuers from the Roșiorii de Vede Fire Department responded with a water and foam truck and a SMURD ambulance. A woman, about 70 years old, intoxicated by smoke, but conscious and cooperative, was taken over by the SMURD crew, received qualified first aid and was transported to the “Caritas” Hospital in the municipality of Roșiorii de Vede.

The fire was located and extinguished within the limits found, at the level of a bedroom, the furniture, carpentry, several textile items, the painting on the walls and part of the roof of the house being destroyed by flames and smoke. The value of the damage was estimated at 10,000 lei, and that of the saved goods at over 40,000 lei.

From the first investigations carried out to establish the probable cause of the fire, it emerged that the event occurred from a forgotten lit candle, near easily combustible materials.

The second fire with a victim was in the town of Băbaita, on Monday, 06.05.2024, at 02.34, when the help of the Alexandrian military firefighters was also requested on the single number for emergency calls 112. Quickly arriving at the scene of the event with two work trucks with water and foam and a SMURD ambulance, the firefighters they found that the fire was widespread, throughout the house, and inside the kitchen there was also a victim, deceased, a man of approximately 38 years. An exploding cylinder was evacuated, and the mission then proceeded safely for an hour, when the fire was completely extinguished. The house, with an area of ​​about 32 square meters, consisting of three rooms, was destroyed by fire in proportion to 90%. The value of the damage was estimated at 20,000 lei, and that of the saved goods at almost 2,000 lei. From the first checks, it emerged that the event occurred, most likely, from a cigarette that was not extinguished properly.

Control activities and preventive information

On a preventive line, prior to the Easter holidays, but also during them, the Teleorman firemen carried out 11 checks at places of worship where a large influx of participants was expected, at the buildings intended to accommodate people within the monasteries and at the objectives in the category of supermarkets , tourism structures, accommodation and public catering. The prevention inspectors paid attention to equipping the buildings with fire extinguishers, keeping the escape routes clear, operating the electrical installations in safe conditions, ensuring the access of emergency vehicles to the church buildings and external hydrants, as well as training the staff on how to coordinate the the evacuation of citizens, but also on the use of fire extinguishers arranged inside the buildings.

For the detected irregularities, 27 contraventional sanctions were applied, in the amount of 12,500 lei. We note that the main objective of these checks was not to sanction deficiencies, but to remove/fix problems in the line of preventing and extinguishing fires, so that every citizen can benefit from extra safety during the Holy Easter Holidays, but also during the mini-holiday of May 1.
