The policemen from Constanța carried out searches on persons suspected of fraud and blackmail. The fake engineers were also active in Cluj.
The investigations focused on individuals who claimed to repair the victims’ properties, but the work was not carried out properly and threatened to leave the houses without roofs if they did not receive the money.
The searches took place on Thursday, April 25, in the counties of Cluj and Ilfov and the city of Bucharest at the residences of three men suspected of committing the respective crimes.
“From the research carried out in the file, it emerged that, between May 2022 and February, they would have misled three injured persons from Constanța county and Bucharest municipality, by using unreal qualities of employees in the position of engineers of a commercial company, presenting – them as the true false circumstance according to which they will carry out expansion and repair works of the victims’ buildings, concluding service contracts.
Thus, he would have collected, from the injured persons, an advance amounting to 95,000 lei, subsequently carrying out partial works, which would not have corresponded to the technical norms in force”IPJ Constanța sent, according to News.ro.
The law enforcement officers specified that the respective persons forced the victims to send them the total sum of 176,000 lei, threatening them that the workers would abandon the work they had started, leaving the houses without roofs.
