A 36-year-old Romanian was left without an arm, after the action to steal money from an ATM in a shopping center in Cattolica, Rimini, failed, writes the italian press.

A gang of Romanians attacked an ATM using the “groundhog” technique, but something went wrong, and doctors had to amputate the young man’s arm, Italian journalists write.

It happened during the night from Friday to Saturday, in Cattolica, at a Riviera bank ATM in a shopping center.

The thieves placed the explosive package in the slot of the ATM, but probably not everything went according to plan, and one of them – a 36-year-old Romanian – was hit hard by the explosion.

He remained on the ground bleeding, while his accomplices fled.

Given his condition, he was rushed to the Bufalini hospital in Cesena, where his arm had to be amputated.

The building suffered significant damage as a result of the explosion.

At the scene, the carabinieri immediately started the investigation, and it will be helped by the images of the surveillance cameras.
