The scandals in the AUR party do not seem to stop before the June 9 elections. In recent weeks, more and more accusations have been brought against George Simion, the party he leads being in free fall in the latest polls.
A new scandal in AUR: George Simion, accused of mocking the party
This time, a new wave of accusations comes from the environment Răzvan Constantinescu, known to Romanians as one of the doctors who opposed the anti-COVID-19 vaccination and the measures to close the population in their homes, which went to George Simion. He was accused of being a golan who made fun of the people of AUR.
“What worthy people are in AUR and how a golan mocks them!” the doctor wrote on Facebook.
Asked who is the “golan” he is referring to, Constantinescu did not shy away from providing details:
“The one with the “scroafo”. The one with “boshetarule”. The one with “I’m sexually assaulting you”. In short, the one from the gallery”.
Despite the accusations against Simion, some of the AUR members still stand by him:
“George Simion is the only one who unmasked and had the courage to disclose the thefts of the thief Virgil and the donkeys of Rareș Pensatul. He is Vlad Tepes reincarnated. Long live George Simion HEART OF GOLD,” commented a man on Răzvan Constantinescu’s page.

What would be, in fact, the purpose of the scandal
For some time, the doctor Răzvan Constantinescu has shown signs that he would be interested in running for the presidential elections. Although he is a member of AUR, he would need the support of the party. In theory, George Simion should also get involved in the race, as other major party leaders do, but Simion has stated several times that he would prefer to hold the position of prime minister.

The latest scandals and tensions within the AUR had a significant impact on the party, clearly manifesting in its decline in the polls for the European Parliament elections.
AUR registers a decrease in the polls for the European Parliament. According to the data, the party lost four percentage points between March and April, reaching 16.7%.
Although George Simion is very active on social media, his efforts to build solid teams in the territory have encountered difficulties.
There were problems not only in the big cities, but also in the smaller towns, where entire lists of candidates from other parties were preferred over those who were active within the AUR.
And this also had repercussions. Many of the party members choosing to resign from the party.
