Florin Mihuţ, the young man from Bihor confined to a wheelchair after an accident, who wants to participate in the Paralympic Games, will launch his book “I defeated. Return to life” on Saturday, at the Museum of the Country of Crişurilor in Oradea.
The 29-year-old has been working for the last 2 years on the book, actually an autobiography.
“The focus is on the moment that radically changed my life, namely the motorcycle accident I had in the summer of 2019 and as a result of which I was immobilized in a wheelchair”, the author explained to Bihor.
According to him, the volume “I defeated. Returning to life” is especially suitable for people with disabilities or for those who are at an impasse in life and cannot find their motivation.
The event will take place on Saturday from 18:00 in the MȚC conference room and will be moderated by another Bihor resident with vocal disabilities in the community, Ovidiu Milian, the president of the Bihor Locomotive Impaired Association.
As Bihor he also wrote, Florin Mihuţ led a normal life until July 2019. Sport was then his greatest passion, he practiced football, swimming and rollerblading.
A few weeks before participating in the most important roller speed competition in Berlin, the young man was seriously injured while driving a motorcycle, on the serpentine road in the town of Şinteu, where he skidded and hit his back against a parapet from the side of the road.
Then he suffered serious injuries to his spine and a leg, remaining disabled.
After leaving the hospital, the young man struggled with depression, and a year after the accident, he launched a fundraising campaign to buy a handbike, that is, a bicycle that is ridden with the hands, which at the time cost over 11,000 euros.
Since then, the Bihorean has been training constantly and going to professional competitions, in order to be able to qualify for the participation in the Paralympic Games.
