An extensive investigation is taking place in the case of a “spiritual master”, a yoga instructor, who, together with four other people, allegedly committed the crimes of human trafficking and rape. They took advantage of the victims’ vulnerability and allegedly forced them to video chat.

Sources from the investigation told GANDUL that Eugen Mîrtz, one of Gregorian Bivolaru’s disciples, is at the center of the investigation by DIICOT and the Capital Police.

The so-called “spiritual master” was picked up by the law enforcement officers on Thursday, along with a whole group of sectarians, who will be questioned.

In total, the masked people descended on no less than 13 addresses in the capital on Thursday.

Bivolaru’s disciple collected 8 victims

The investigation by the police and prosecutors concerns the crimes of forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking and rape.

“Investigations have revealed the existence of an organized criminal group consisting of five suspects, with the aim of committing the crime of human trafficking, active in the city of Bucharest since 2012.

It was led by an individual who, in the guise of a spiritual master and yoga instructor, recruited eight vulnerable victims, taking advantage of their lack of family support and limited life experience, according to the Capital Police.

Mîrtz’s victims, forced to practice video chat

The victims were sexually exploited, forced to produce and broadcast pornographic materials, and the group members provided them with shelter in several apartments in the Capital and logistics for video chat activitiesincluding furnished buildings and appropriate technical equipment.

Also, the members of the criminal group opened bank accounts, in the name of commercial companies or authorized natural persons, to collect the sums of money obtained by the injured persons, exercising, at the same time, a strict control of their video chat services, by creating a “group of work”, where they were obliged to announce the start/end time of the activity.

Earnings of 1.4 million euros!

“The investigations carried out also showed that, in the summer of 2019, the leader of the organized crime group, taking advantage of the impossibility of one of the victims to express her will, had a sexual relationship with her, subsequently causing her not to notify the judicial authorities .

The evidentiary material administered in the case revealed that the suspects obtained approximately 1.4 million euros from the criminal activities carried out”, according to a press release from the Capital Police.

The hearings will be held at the headquarters of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Central Structure.

Fighters from the Special Actions Service, policemen from Police Departments 17, 18, 19 and 24 and policemen from the Violent Criminal Groups Service of the Capital Police are participating in the action.

Also, the activity benefited from the specialized support of the Special Operations Directorate within the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.
