On Monday, April 29, 2024 from 5 p.m., at the Gorj “Alexandru Ștefulescu” County Museum in Târgu Jiu (str. Geneva, no. 8), the opening of the group exhibition “Psyche” will take place. Exhibit the artists Alexandra Baciu, Diana Brăescu, Cristina Aurelia Ionescu-Berechet, Anca Maria Ciofîrlă (Kademian), Mihaela Constantin, Anca Constantinescu, Bianca Ioniță and Alexandra Tătaru, members of the “Himerele” group, who are joined for this project, and Dorina Cioplea-Widow.

The exhibition can be visited until the end of May. Curators: Dorina Cioplea-Văduva, Bianca Ioniță. “Chimerele” is a group of artists who interrogate the condition of women in society and in the world of art.

“Within the exhibition “Psyche”, presented at Târgu Jiu, the expression of the portrait is a surprised state of a moment. Moments from the sequence of time are immortalized. The expression reflects an inner state, but also the internalized projection of an external context, a reflection of reality, a mirroring of what happens outside us, the way we relate and react to external stimuli. Each person has their own soul structure. The portrayed image is a representation of self and otherness, through the multiple ways of perception and an interpretation of the other as an alter ego. The passage of time produces changes in the human psyche, leaves traces in cognitive and sensory processes. Memory is a storehouse of memories in which we find ourselves at a given moment. Dating is a reconnection to the past, to recent or distant past experiences. Images are a visual diary of events and emotional states. Detachment allows you to break away from events and transpose into new, novel situations.”, Bianca Ioniță.

“The perception of the world begins with the perception of the self. Exploring the inside and outside of yourself later gives you the tools to explore others. The exhibiting artists use self-portraiture and portraiture as a method of understanding, questioning and responding. I make visual and psychological x-rays, filter, sometimes judge, sometimes break down and recompose, using different artistic means and techniques. The complexity of these means of expression becomes, paradoxically, one of the binders of the exhibition, offering the viewer a broad and rich vision.
The artists use models, dreams, cutouts from life, the immortalization (suspension in time with the possibility of revisiting) of some moments, some important, others from everyday life, feelings, moods and everything that is, in fact, part of the arsenal /the amalgam of life. Sometimes the filters work, sometimes impulses shine through”, Dorina Cioplea-Văduva.
