On Wednesday, the military and civilian firemen in Sibiu are marked by the passing away of Colonel Floarian CHIOAR Florean, commander of the Group of Firefighters in Sibiu between 2001-2004 and Chief Inspector of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Capt. Dumitru Croitoru” of Sibiu County during 2004-2008.
Born on July 20, 1953 in the village of Sângătin, Apoldu de Jos commune, Sibiu county, Mr. Colonel (r) Chioar dedicated a large part of his life to the military career and the fire service, becoming a respected leader in the more than 35 years of activity.
His military career began in 1972, when he attended the Military School of Fire Officers in Sibiu, obtaining the rank of lieutenant in 1975 after graduation.
During his 35-year military career, he held the following positions:
- 1975-1978 – platoon commander at the Sibiu Fire Officers School
- 1978-1979 – platoon commander II at the Sibiu Fire Brigade
- 1979-1980 – deputy company commander and then promoted to company commander
- 1980-1982 – student at the Military Academy – Faculty of Combined Arms
- 1982-1988 – specialist officer I (operations) at the Fire Command
- 1988-2001 – Chief of Staff at the Sibiu County Fire Brigade
- 2001-2004 – commander of the Fire Brigade of Sibiu county
- 2004-2008 – Chief Inspector of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Capt. Dumitru Croitoru” of Sibiu county
During his career, he was rewarded for outstanding merit with the following awards:
- Medal “Military Merit” 2nd class in 1981
- Medal “Military Merit” 1st class in 1986
- Order “Military Merit” class III in 1995
- Order “Military Merit” 2nd class in 1995
- Honorary Badge in Army Service for officers – 25 years of service
